Team Tryouts and Registration
Upcoming 2026 Season
All new and returning players are expected to attend an Ohio Tide tryout for 2026 team placement. We are kindly requesting every player complete the online registration in order to participate.
Ages
Appropriate players at least 9 years old who have completed at least one year of Learn-to-Play through 18 years old (as of May 1, 2026).
When
Stay tuned for our tryout dates that will occur in late July after our 2025 seasons have concluded.
Tryout Process
Upon arrival players should sign in at the check-in located near the fields. Players perform better in the group tryouts without spectators. We strongly recommend dropping your player off and picking up at the conclusion of the tryouts. You can sit in your car in the parking lots across from the football field to wait for your athlete.
The players will be directed to an age-appropriate group to be evaluated by coaches on baseball skills, including fielding, throwing, pitching, and base running. Coaches will also take note of each player's general confidence as a ballplayer and as an athlete.
Where
Our organization has two primary locations and our tryouts, off season workouts, or home games will be held at either Hawken Upper School in Gates Mills or Hawken Lower School in Lyndhurst.
What to Bring
Players should arrive no earlier than 30 minutes before the scheduled start time. Please arrive prepared to play with the following:
- All Baseball equipment
- Tennis shoes or turfs, as well as molded (no metal) cleats
- Catchers, you must wear the appropriate protective gear (including a cup) at tryouts
- Water bottle
Team offers
All team offers will be communicated on a rolling basis as we build age level teams before or by August 4th via email. In the best interest of all families awaiting decisions, we expect families to review their offer and respond within 48 hours of receipt so we can get a good understanding of the roster positions for each team or communicate with Ohio Tide to discuss an extension if needed.
If you choose to be a part of the 2026 Ohio Tide season, you will need to complete the online season payment included in your offer with your deposit to lock in your player's spot.
We know this is both an exciting and stressful time of the year, and are committed to handling the process as quickly and transparently as possible. If you have not heard from the Ohio Tide or contemplating an offer from another organization, feel free to contact either of our baseball leadership team for an update.
- Director of Field Development, Chuck Tate
- Director of Baseball Operations, Aaron Brandt
